Second photo of original. Yes yes, the peg is still in there. I'll PS it later. I forgot to mention liver of sulphur was used to achieve the darker brown areas.

Edit: I would like to make note here that despite the suggester's AWESOME praise, there is actually no casting involved in this piece. It's completely forged, except the granulations, which were melted on a charcoal block and the tips of the wire (long mushrooms) which were melted by the torch.

Edit edit: I will take this time now to hoar myself out and say that yes, I DO do commissions (srs inquires only please) but at the moment am on summer vacation from school and have limited equipment. Thanks!

Swamplings and Shroomlings II by ~Lykaios. About this intriguingly beautiful ring, the suggester said, "~Lykaios has made a beautiful piece of wearable sculpture from an unlikely subject. She adeptly displays several metal-working skills including forging, casting, granulation, and stone-setting to create a fine example of sculpture and art jewelry." The larger stone on the left is a smokey quartz and the smaller stone on the right is a tsavorite (green garnet). This one just begs to be seen in fullview! :O Is this a ring? I would so wear it! It appeals to my love of nature, but at the same time there is a little humor to it....but I'm not sure why I'm seeing that. Maybe its because not many people would make jewellery inspired by a swamp? Or maybe it appealed to my Warhammer Online urges and I couldn't help thinking of goblin shamans.....

Very awesome, I love how you made the silver look like shrooms. What stone did you use? Brown topaz?

Lol nice. I've done that a few times to. green garnet can be very expensive, that's why I was asking, if you had a cheaper location for it lol.
